Coding a question

To code or recode a question from an eForm, you need the 'Code clinical response' permission

  1. Open the eForm and locate the question. A thesaurus question is displayed as a text box with an orange border.

  2. Right click the question status icon to the right of the thesaurus question and select Clinical Coding > Code Question. The MedDRA browser is displayed with the question response as the search term and the list of matches found.
The dictionary used and the number of matches found are displayed at the bottom of the browser.

  3. If you need to alter the search, replace the Search term and click Search to search again.

  4. Select the appropriate match from the list of matches and click OK to close the browser. Once coded, the response text will change colour from black (not coded) to orange (coded) in the question field.

  5. Save the eForm.

Recoding a question

To recode a question, follow the usual steps for coding a question.

Note that entering a new response into the field of an already coded question will reset the status of the question to Not Coded. The colour of the response text will change from orange (coded) to black (not coded) in the question field.

Batch coding

You can search for all uncoded questions and code them together using the Batch Code feature within the Clinical Coding module.
