Exporting subject data

Subject data can be exported in MACRO format for import into another MACRO database or in CDISC format.

Note: All historical subject response data is exported, including any data entered into questions that have since been removed from an eForm or questions on an eForm that has since been removed from a visit. Once entered into MACRO, response data is permanently stored in the subject audit trail.

Exporting subject data in MACRO format (prd)

Select Tasks > Subject > Export. The Export Subject window is displayed.
You can choose to export all subjects from a study or a site or you can select an individual subject. Click the crosses to expand the study/sites and select the subject/s you wish to export.
Check the box at the top if you wish to include notes, DCRs, SDV marks and lock/freeze messages in the export file.
Click Export.
Select the location to which you wish to export the file. The default location is the Out Folder of the application folder.
Click Save. The data is exported as a .prd file. The files contain all the internally assigned details of the subject such as ID as well as all of the clinical data that has been collected for that subject.
You can either export another study, or click Close to close the Export box.

The exported files can be imported into a MACRO database of any format, regardless of the type of database from which they have been exported.

Exporting subject data in CDISC format (xml)

MACRO is compatible with the CDISC standard created by the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC). MACRO subject data can be exported in xml format but you must first export the study to CDISC.

Select Tasks > Study > Export to CDISC to export the study containing the subjects you wish to export, selecting the Out Folder of the application folder as the location for the file.
Select Tasks > Subject > Export to CDISC. The Export Subject window is displayed.
You can choose to export all subjects from a study or a site or you can select an individual subject. Click the crosses to expand the study/sites and select the subject/s you wish to export. You cannot export notes, DCRs, SDV marks and lock/freeze messages to CDISC format in this version of MACRO.
Click Export.
Select the location to which you wish to export the file. The default location is the Out Folder of the application folder.
Click Save. The data is exported as a .xml file. The files contain all the internally assigned details of the subject such as ID as well as all of the clinical data that has been collected for that subject.
You can either export another study, or click Close to close the Export box.
