MACRO uses two types of database:
This contains user names, passwords and permissions plus a list of master databases.
This contains all the rest of the data used by MACRO, such as study definitions, site and subject details and all collected subject data.
One of each of these types of database is automatically created when you first log in to MACRO after it has been installed on a machine.
We recommend that you create a separate master database for each study that you create. Note that you can use the same security database for all these studies.
All data for a single site must be stored on one machine. However, it is possible for one machine to store subject data for more than one site - provided that this is not a remote site.
Warning: Creating two databases for different remote machines on the same study with the same site identifier may cause serious errors.

Warning: Databases cannot be copied. Do not attempt to copy a database from within SQL Server or Oracle as invalid references are likely to be created, leading to data corruption. All new databases must be created and registered in the usual way via the System Management module.
