eForm dates

To create an eForm date you have to set up a special question on the eForm, as follows:

1. Create a question of type Date/Time and place it on the eForm. Help on creating questions...

2. Open the eForm Definition window, and click the More button to open the full window.  

3. Pull down the Date drop down list and select the question you have just created. See image

   

Note: Only questions of type Date/Time are displayed in the Date list.

In Data Entry, this date question will not appear on the eForm. Instead, the question will appear in the header of the eForm, with the caption you have specified.

eForm date questions sometimes behave differently from other types of questions, and have some restrictions:

• The data type of an eForm date question must always be Date/Time. If a question has been used as an eForm Date question, its data type may not be changed in the Question Definition dialog.

• An eForm date question may be derived or user-entered. If it is not derived, the user must enter a valid date on the eForm in Data Entry. If no date has been entered and the user tries to save the eForm, a message will be displayed saying that the eForm date is missing.

• The format of an eForm date question may be any of the valid formats for Date/Time questions. The question will appear on the eForm and on the schedule in your chosen format.

• You can set any number of validation conditions on an eForm date question. Warning and reject dialogs will be generated in exactly the same way as for other questions in Data Entry. Do not place 'Collect if' conditions on an enterable date question if it is to be used as an eForm date as the data entry user may be unable to save the eForm.

• You can choose to display an eForm date question with a calendar button.

• The value of an eForm date question will appear in the Data Browser along with other question values for the eForm.
