MACRO Structure

About the Settings file

The Settings file contains settings that control certain aspects of the behaviour of MACRO. It is located within the application folder. By default, it is named MACROUserSettings40.config

In order for the Settings file to work, it is referenced in another file, MACROsettings30.txt which must never be removed or renamed. This file contains the line: usersettingsfile=path\MACROUserSettings40.config

This points to the Settings file. If you rename the Settings file, you must edit this line accordingly.

It is possible to have more than one Settings file but only one can be active at any time. To use a particular file, simply edit the line within MACROsettings30.txt to refer to the required file.

Module settings

The Settings file contains a configurable list of settings which determine how the various modules behave.

Some of these settings should not be edited by the user. List of settings...

The security database

The Settings file also contains a pointer to the security database. This security database identifier must exist for MACRO to work and is entered manually during installation/configuration. If it is deleted you will be told that the security database does not exist when next opening MACRO. If this happens you are given the choice of creating a new security database or retrieving a previous one.

A second (encrypted) security database identifier string also exists in the settings file. This is created automatically and is due to a number of modules having been written in a different code. You do not need to do anything to this string but it must be left in place.
